The great part about this time capsule is that family and friends can write notes to your child’s future self and give the gift of education. It’s a meaningful, creative, and fun way to remember today while saving for tomorrow.

BUT HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Create a First Birthday to Remember: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Time Capsule Kit

STEP 1: Invite Your Guests and Encourage the Gift of Education

When you invite guests to the party, let them know you’d appreciate the gift of education for your baby.

STEP 2: Set Up a Memory Station at the Party.

During the party, create a special spot for the time capsule, notes and envelopes. Ask guests to write special notes for your baby.
Use the box to also collect any contributions to your child’s college savings account. If your child has a NextGen 529 account, checks can be made out to, “NextGen 529 FBO [your child’s first and last name].
After the party is over, you can collect the completed note cards in the custom box and keep it as a memento for your child to read in the future.

STEP 3: Give Yourself a Pat on the Back!

You’ve made it through the first year with your baby AND created a meaningful experience for them!
If your child has a NextGen 529 account, you can add any contributions to your child’s account. Contributions can be made online, by check, or by transferring or rolling over funds from another account. You can make it easy by setting up automatic contributions from your checking or savings account or using payroll deduction.
