NextGen 529 Helps You Help Your Clients
NextGen 529 is a valuable resource to help you create personalized higher education savings plans for your clients. With flexible investment options, tax benefits, and the ability to tailor solutions for each client, it’s a valuable asset to enhance your advisory services. NextGen 529 is Maine’s Section 529 plan and is administered by FAME. Vestwell State Savings is the program manager and BlackRock Advisors is the Investment Manager. The Select Series, sold through financial advisors, gives you the flexibility you need to help your clients reach their savings goals.
INVESTMENT OPTIONS AND PERFORMANCE
The Select Series offers a comprehensive set of investment options managed by BlackRock and sub-advisors including Franklin Templeton, MFS, Lord Abbett, NYLI, and Neuberger Berman, as well as stable value options.
PRINCIPAL PLUS PORTFOLIO RATE: Blended rate1 of 3.74% as of August 1, 2025.

The Principal Plus Portfolio is currently invested in two Funding Agreements issued by the New York Life Insurance Company that provide for deposits to a Guaranteed Interest Account (GIA). The New York Life GIA offers a variable interest rate that is reset semi-annually. For the period July 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025, the annualized net interest rate is 4.90% and 2.90% respectively for the two Funding Agreements. As of August 1, 2025, the approximate weighted average blended rate1 of both Funding Agreements is 3.74%.

NEXTGEN SAVINGS PORTFOLIO RATE: Bank Deposit Account 4.31% APY as of August 1, 2025.
Vestwell receives an annual payment of 0.35% from the interest paid on the Bank Deposit Account for its administration services to the NextGen Savings Portfolio. This charge deducted from the interest paid on the Bank Deposit Account is not reflected in, and is separate from, the fees and expenses for the NextGen Savings Portfolio shown in the Annual Asset-Based Fees table. The impact of the fee is reflected in the monthly performance posted by the Plan.
BlackRock Investments, LLC no longer serves as distributor and underwriter for Units of the Client Direct Series of NextGen 529. As of July 1, 2024, Northern Lights Distributors, LLC replaced BlackRock Investments, LLC in such capacity.
